One of the tips was for words ending in "ing." The tendency was for them to say the "g" like a "k," as spoken in their language. The trick is to soften the the sound to a voiced "hum." English has 3 nasal sounds: /m, n, and ng/. Those sounds are made in 3 places;
- /m/-lips closed
- /n/ tongue at the gum ridge behind the top teeth
- /ng/ the middle of the tongue is raised to the roof of your mouth, the same as /g/ and /k/ sound but no air released, but held there with a hum
